Rank of Poker Hands
To better understand how poker hands are ranked, let us first find out what a hand is and what the values of individual cards are.
A hand is a combination of five cards generated when playing poker. The card with the highest value is the ace. However, the value of the hand will not depend only depend on the card (even if it's an ace) but also the combination you make: 1 pair, 2 pair, 3 of a kind, straight, flush, full house, 4 of a kind, straight flush, and royal flush.
The rank of poker hands depends on the probability. Because the royal flush is deemed rarest, it is the highest hand in value. The royal flush has the royal family (king, queen, jack) plus the ace and ten, all coming from the same suit. The straight flush comes next to poker hands with one of the highest values. It is a hand consisting of five cards that are arranged in sequence, also coming from the same suit. More probable combinations such as pairs are placed lower in the rank of poker hands.Social Bookmarking
